A Valentine's Day Memory

A Valentine's Day Memory

A Valentine's Day Memory | Set the Table

Do you ever wonder if the memories you have from childhood are…accurate?

As I get older, I feel as if I am mashing moments together into one memory. I started down this rabbit hole of thought earlier today when I was reminded of a Valentine’s Day many years ago. My sister and I were treated to a fancy dinner out with our dad. While I don’t have any clear recollection of what they looked like, I know we were dressed up in fancy outfits with our hair curled and likely adorned with a bow. My lovely Tennessee, southern bell mother would have it no other way. I remember snow, and watching birds eat and a feeder outside one of the restaurant window.

I may not remember what I ate, the name of the restaurant, or what we talked about at the table. But I do remember feeling loved and special.

My hope for anyone reading this is that you find that feeling Valentine’s Day. Maybe it is from a significant other, a parent, a sibling, a friend, or even a pet. But be on the look out because it would be a shame to miss it. Even better: give the gift of feeling loved and special to someone else. It doesn’t have to be romantic but it does have to be genuine and kind.

Take care of each other. Spread Joy.
