How we Saturday...
Today was a real Saturday for our family. The morning started out slowly and the rest of the day followed suit. There was coffee, snuggles with the dogs, green chili scrambled eggs and toast, and staying in our PJs just a little too long. We had made some tentative plans for the day, but it felt so wonderful to take it slow that we ditched them in favor of lazing around the house. Our neighbors came over for a late afternoon lunch of wine, cheese, crackers, and smoked fish that Brad made last weekend. Our kids had a ball playing together while we chatted. We decided to do it all over again at dinner, this time slurping papardelle noodles with short rib ragu. It was wonderful. It was one of those days where even mundane tasks, like sorting through piles of mail, felt therapeutic. Today made me want to reserve Saturdays for nothing but time spent at home to reset our minds and bodies after a busy week. We don't do that enough.
I hope you all were able to take some deep breaths today, perhaps getting out to enjoy the beautiful fall weather, or simply snuggling up under a blanket to catch up on a little reading. Whatever you did, I hope Saturday treated you well.
